As a result of two-year research work of the UNBA Centre and academics from the Institute, the Department of History of State and Law of the National University "Lviv Polytechnics" included in the curriculum a separate course on the history of the world and Ukrainian bar.
The course is designed for one academic semester, comprising eight lectures and practical workshops, and includes an introduction to the course, history of foreign bar - the origin of the institute of the bar, analysis of the bar of Rome and Byzantium, European bar of the Middle Ages (476-1453), Renaissance (1453-1640) and the New Age (since 1640). History of the bar of Ukraine is presented by the following topics: legal advice and defence in Kyivan Rus, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the First Rzeczpospolita; the organization of legal assistance in Muscovy and the Russian Empire (1480-1917); the bar of the Austrian and Austro-Hungarian Empire and its Ukrainian segment; institute of the bar at the Ukrainian lands as part of the USSR, the Second Rzeczpospolita, interwar Romania and Czechoslovakia; evolution of the bar in the independent Ukraine.
Accordingly, starting from 6 February 2016, LLM students of the Lviv Polytechnics started taking a new course "History of the world and national bar". The course is delivered by Professor Volodymyr Makarchuk, Head of Department of History of State and Law, Doctor of Law.
The UNBA Centre for Research of the Bar and the Law will fully facilitate the preparation of contents of the course and will provide with the UNBA publications on this subject.Popular news
