On 24 February 2017 a lecture on "Advocate’s activities and protection of professional rights" was organized in Ivano-Frankivsk by the UNBA Committee on protection of advocates’ rights and professional guarantees together with the Ivano-Frankivsk Region Bar Council. Advocates from the region took an active part in the event, which indicates that the issue of violation of advocates’ rights becomes relevant not only for advocates from the capital, but also for the legal community in the regions of Ukraine.

In Ivano-Frankivsk Mrs Ganna Kolesnyk, Head of the UNBA Committee, paid a working visit to the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Court of Appeal and met with Mr Bogdan Grynovetskyy, President of the court. During the meeting, they discussed the need to open a room for advocates in the court. Besides, following the communication with representatives of the legal community in the region it became evident that some difficulties arose for the advocates in the Galytskyy Court of the Ivano-Frankivsk region regarding familiarization with the case. The president of the court reassured that these problems would be solved in the near future in accordance with the law.

During her lecture, Mrs Kolesnyk spoke about the most common violations of advocates’ professional rights and provided methodological recommendations on how a defender should proceed in these situations. After the event the participants received CPD certificates.
