UNBA puts forward 9 candidates to the Selection Panel for election of the Director of Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Provision
The UNBA invites the Ministry of Justice to include 9 representatives of the bar to the Selection Panel for the election of the Director of Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Provision.
The corresponding letter was sent from the Head of the UNBA Committee on Legal Aid Serhii Vylkov to the Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko.
“A new composition of the Selection Panel for this post is currently being formed. The Committee considers it expedient to request the inclusion of the representatives of the bar self-government bodies and the UNBA in general to the composition of the said panel. In order to observe the transparency and comprehensive objectivity of the competition for the position of Director of Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Provision, we request to include in the UNBA representatives to the panel composition”, - the letter reads.
The specialized Committee proposes to include to the Selection Panel the UNBA members as follows: the UNBA, BCU Deputy President Valentyn Hvozdii, BCU Deputy Chairman Oleksii Kukhar, Chairwoman of the Bar Council of Kharkiv Region Viktoriia Haivoronska, Deputy Head of the UNBA Committee on Legal Aid Hanna Zosymenko, member of the said Committee Leonid Shalimov, Head of the Committee on Protection of Advocates’ Rights and Guarantees Hanna Boriak and the Committee Deputy Head Ihor Kolesnykov.
The Committee on Legal Aid is the UNBA permanent collegial advisory body established on July 4, 2015 by the BCU Decision No. 74. The purpose of the Committee is to monitor the functioning and development of the legal aid system in Ukraine, analyze and synthesize the information on legal aid, develop changes to the legislation of Ukraine on legal aid and related acts, and to establish relations in the field of legal aid.
As it is known, the results of the work of the Selection Panel for election of the Director of Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Provision, according to which Pavlo Moroz was elected Director of Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Provision, were canceled.
