The Ukrainian National Bar Association and the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation have agreed to cooperate.

The Memorandum was signed by the UNBA President Lidiia Izovitova and the Academy President Tetiana Barabash during the Ukrainian-German Forum “Alternative dispute resolution”.

The document reflects such common goals as the exchange of experience and information, promotion of mediation and alternative means of dispute resolution in Ukraine. Both parties will endeavor to raise awareness of advocates in order to enhance their qualifications on mediation and other out-of-court dispute resolution procedures.

The realization of the Memorandum objectives will take place within the framework of joint projects, programs and activities, the development of proposals and recommendations on draft laws and other regulations, working and governmental programs.

FOR INFORMATION: THE UKRAINIAN ACADEMY OF MEDICATION is a public non-profit association with legal status. The Union is based on common interests in the field of mediation for the implementation of goals and tasks stipulated by its Charter, as well as for the enforcement and protection of rights and freedoms, public satisfaction, namely social, cultural, economic and other interests.

The main purpose of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation is to facilitate the development of mediation in Ukraine as an alternative (non-judicial) method of dispute resolution and enhance a culture of peace and harmony in Ukrainian society.

Thanks to cooperation with European organizations that are leaders in the field of mediation, Ukrainian Academy of Mediation has advanced experience of European countries in this regard, including the organization of the implementation process of mediation in the courts.

The Committee of Experts on the Protection of Lawyers presented the text of the draft Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Lawyers. The document is being prepared for approval by stakeholders. The final version should be developed by the end of the year.
