On May 26, 2018, in Dnipro, the Ukrainian National Bar Association together with the Council of Europe conducted a training for lawyers on the educational course of the European Human Rights Education Program HELP "Introduction to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms."

Trainers of the event were certified trainers of the Council of Europe, experts of the UNBA Olena Sibilova and Ruslan Balkovyi.

The training was attended by 33 participants (attorneys and lawyers' assistants).

The event was conducted according to the methodology of interactive teaching of the HELP Council of Europe, taking into account the experience of training professional representatives of legal professions.

During the first full-time training, the participants got acquainted with HELP's online courses, they discussed the topic "Introduction to the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms", they were introduced to the work of the HELP program network operating in the member states of the Council of Europe. The procedural issues of the European Court of Human Rights, the procedure for drawing up the application form for the ECtHR, the filing of the application and petition, the admissibility criteria, the procedure for examining cases before the ECHR, etc., were considered. The participants analyzed the decisions of the ECtHR, offered within the framework of the course, and fulfilled interactive tasks.

Attorneys-participants of the training received certificates of advanced training of the Ukrainian National Bar Association.

The participants of the training will continue their studies at the HELP Council of Europe distance learning course for the in-depth study, mastering and further application of the principles of the operation of the Convention standards. Further training of participants of this event is carried out at a distance course under the guidance of trainers. Upon completion of the course, a second meeting with the participants will take place to discuss the topic, consolidate the results and issue the certificates of the Council of Europe to those who have successfully completed the course.
