|
Mrs Lydia Izovitova, the UNBA President, and Mrs Oksana Kadenko, the BCU member, at the invitation of the Georgian Bar Association participated at the conference of the bar associations on issues concerning professional independence and other issues of the bar. During its visit to Georgia, the UNBA delegation presented the situation in the Ukrainian legal profession and informed foreign colleagues about the results of the UNBA activities in building the bar self-government. The event was held in Tbilisi (Georgia) with the participation of representatives from ten national bar associations of different countries, more than 20 representatives of the Georgian Bar Association and experts from international organizations. The discussion about the need to strengthen the independence of the bar was opened by Mr Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia. In his opinion, the bar is the foundation of the State governed by the rule of law, on which safeguards to protect the rights of citizens are built, and the government should help secure exactly this role of this independent institution. |
