On 21 July 2018 in the city of Odessa advocates, paralegals and trainees took part in the workshop conducted within the framework of the course of a European training program in the field of human rights called HELP "Introduction to the Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms". On 21 July 2018 in the city of Odessa advocates, paralegals and trainees took part in the workshop conducted within the framework of the course of a European training program in the field of human rights called HELP "Introduction to the Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms".
The Ukrainian National Bar Association continues the active implementation of European values in the field of human rights in practical activities of each of the advocates in Ukraine.
For this purpose, the UNBA cooperates with the Council of Europe in the field of the implementation of the European educational courses for training of legal professions.
The event was inaugurated by the Head of the Bar Council of Odessa region Iosyp Lvovych Bronz. One of the most respected lawyers in the profession appealed to the audience with a call to always do everything possible to protect and restore human rights, to communicate to clients the possibilities offered by joining the European system of human rights protection.
The course is presented by the trainer of the HELP program of the Council of Europe, a judge of Poltava region administrative court Alexander Kukoba. The trainer drew attention to the key issues of the course. During the training, students had the opportunity to discuss the main trends and the practice of using by the advocates of the Convention and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in the daily activities of advocates involved in human rights protection.
The coordinator of the HELP program of the Council of Europe chosen among the advocates of Ukraine Olena Sibiliova stressed the need for conducting training and exercises according to the leading courses of the Council of Europe for the accession of Ukrainian legal profession to the global legal environment for feeling and a subtle understanding by the advocates of the most important Convention's values, striving to raise the protection level of a person, relevant application of the practices of the European court of Human Rights in the representation of interests and protection of clients in national courts. Such knowledge and skills will not only allow to reduce the number of appeals against Ukraine to the European Court of Human Rights, but also to create in our country a powerful human rights environment - said the Coordinator.
Training participants were familiarized with the methodology and conditions of training using the HELP platform and were subscribed to the corresponding distance learning HELP course of the Council of Europe for in-depth study, mastering and further use in practice of the principles of the Convention standards application.
The subsequent two-month training of the participants of this event will be conducted according to the distance learning course under the guidance of certified trainers. After completion of the distance learning course it is planned to hold another face to face meeting of trainees with trainers to discuss the results. Participants who successfully completed the training will receive a certificate from the Ukrainian National Bar Association and the Council of Europe.
