UNBA calls Verkhovna Rada to support suggestions of the Bar for the draft law № 1009
UNBA appealed to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement about amending the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine.
The UNBA Committee on Criminal Law and Process has prepared a draft law about changes to CPC, which corresponds with goals of enlargement of advocates’ rights and protection of professional rights and guarantees of legal activity.
Particularly, it concerns the changes to the draft Law of Ukraine “On making changes to legislative acts of Ukraine about an improvement of separate provisions in criminal procedural legislation” № 1009. This draft law introduces changes to Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine and related to it Ukrainian Laws “On status of people’s deputies of Ukraine”, “On National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine”, “On judicial expertise”, “On radio frequency resource of Ukraine”, “On making changes to some legislative acts of Ukraine about simplifying pre-trial investigations of separate categories” (will be implemented on January 1st 2020). The draft law has become a basis with a simplified procedure of preparation for further consideration.
UNBA asks people’s deputies to support suggested changes during the preparation for the second reading.
UNBA is grateful for the cooperation and readiness for the professional discussion about the necessity of renewing procedural legislation to the advocate, people’s deputy Oleg Makarov, who as a member of the Committee on Legal Policy has actively participated in the development of the mentioned changes.
