More than 40,000 attorneys improved their qualification in the IV quarter of 2020
In October-December 2020, 40,488 attorneys took part in the qualification improvement events.
This information is based on the statistics on the activities of bar self-government bodies for the IV quarter published on the Ukrainian National Bar Association (hereinafter – the “UNBA”) website.
The events organized by the regional Bar Councils were attended by 32,232 attorneys. The largest audiences were gathered in Kharkiv (4676), Kirovohrad (3888), and Dnipropetrovsk regions (3777).
In total, during the IV quarter, the regional Bar Councils organized 72 seminars and pieces of training for attorneys and also 30 events were organized together with partner organizations. The leaders in these activities were Kharkiv (10) and Dnipropetrovsk (9) regions. During this period, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, and Poltava regions conducted 7 events each.
In October-December, the Bar Council of Ukraine conducted 21 qualification improvements events for attorneys and co-organized 8 more events. 8,256 attorneys took part in the seminars and pieces of training conducted by the Bar Council of Ukraine. This number has been achieved by applying the online formats of educational events broadcasted via Facebook, Youtube, and Zoom.
Remainder: attorneys who have received the status of an attorney are obliged to improve their professional level for 16 hours per year minimum during the first three years of their bar activity. After that, all attorneys are required to improve their attorney qualifications during 10 hours per year. Draft law 10449: UNBA submits amendments to the lawyers' booking
In order to ensure the constitutional guarantee of everyone's right to legal aid, the draft law No. 10449 on strengthening mobilization should provide for the reservation of lawyers.
