Ukrainians will be assisted in submitting applications to the RD4U damage registry

print version

Ukrainians who have suffered damage as a result of Russian aggression can receive free assistance in preparing applications to the Register of Damage for Ukraine (RD4U). This support is being provided by the legal platform PravoVsim.

This was announced by Oleksandr Chernykh, the project coordinator from the Ukrainian National Bar Association.

The main task of RD4U is to receive and process applications and related evidence. This includes categorizing, classifying, and systematizing these applications based on various criteria. The Register Council will evaluate the applications and determine their compliance with the established criteria. Acceptable applications will be registered for further consideration and evaluation.

«This is an important step in the process of international recognition of harm, - explained O. Chernykh. - RD4U is the first step towards further compensation mechanisms, so recording losses and submitting applications correctly are crucial for future legal protection».

The platform's lawyers advise and assist with the submission of applications in the following categories:

A1.1 Forced internal displacement

A2.1 Death of a close family member

A2.2 Disappearance of a close family member

A2.3 Serious bodily injury

A2.4 Sexual violence

A2.5 Torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment

A2.6 Deprivation of liberty

A2.7 Forced labor or service

A3.1 Damage to or destruction of residential real estate

A3.2 Damage to or destruction of non-residential real estate

A3.6 Loss of access to or control over real estate in temporarily occupied territories

Consultations are conducted online, so both persons residing in Ukraine and those who have left the country can receive assistance. To do so, go to the «Find a lawyer» section of the PravoVsim website, select a specialist with the appropriate specialization and country, and book a convenient time for a free consultation.

«Lawyers not only explain the content of the application requirements, but also help navigate the procedure, prepare the necessary documents, and provide all the necessary legal support in accordance with the specific life situation, - noted O. Chernykh. - Having professional support in this process significantly increases the chances of proper recording of damages and inclusion of applications in the registry».

The PravoVsim platform is coordinated by the Danish Refugee Council with funding from the European Union. The initiative provides free legal assistance to Ukrainians who find themselves in difficult life circumstances. Recently, the Ukrainian National Bar Association extended its memorandum of cooperation with PravoVsim.
