Statement by the UNBA Committee on the «National Police investigation»
The media is spreading news that the National Police of Ukraine is allegedly investigating a criminal offense committed by the leadership of the Ukrainian National Bar Association.
This is blatant manipulation. The National Police is not conducting any investigations into the chairman of the UNBA and her deputies.
The source of this fake news is the PO «DEJURE Foundation», which has been systematically attacking the Ukrainian advocacy since its inception.
We see the latest insinuations by DEJURE, as well as the publication «Dzerkalo Tyzhnia» and the PO «Holka», as an attack on the independence of the advocacy and a threat to the profession.
We urge media representatives not to participate in the dissemination of manipulative information and slander.
In turn, we report that practicing advocate V.S. Bunyak (author of the statement) is a systematic violator of the legal norms for practicing law: he has not undergone professional development, has not paid annual fees, and is involved in disciplinary cases.
The Ukrainian National Bar Association will apply to law enforcement agencies with a statement about a knowingly false report of a crime.
