Students invited to draft a security agreement for Ukraine - competition
The Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University with the support of the Ukrainian National Bar Association has announced a nationwide legal student competition entitled «New Ukraine through the Eyes of Young Lawyers». The best entries will receive cash prizes.
The competition was presented on December 4 at the UNIAN press center.
The event was attended by University Rector Dmytro Lukyanenko, Director of the KNEU Law Institute Lyudmila Kozhura, her deputy Svitlana Zaderayko, Chairman of the Institute's Center for legal information, professional development and expert research, Chairman of the UNBA Committee on lobbying Oleksiy Shevchuk, Chairman of the UNBA Committee on information policy and interaction with the media Yuriy Radzievsky, Chairman of the UNBA NextGen Ihor Andreyev and the head of the UNBA Secretariat Vadym Krasnyk.
The project aims to involve young lawyers in shaping the future legal order. This was emphasized by the founder of the competition, O. Shevchuk. He stressed that students from any university can participate and that it is young lawyers who should formulate a vision of the state's legal guarantees after victory. «In recent years, the country has been in a state of turmoil. We talk a lot about peace and victory, but no one has asked young people if they are ready for a new country. That is why we announced this competition — so that young lawyers themselves could propose what Ukraine's security agreement should look like», - the speaker noted.
O. Shevchuk announced that the prize fund for the competition is 500,000 hryvnias, donated by advocates. He also announced the structure of the prize fund: 200,000 hryvnias for first place, 150,000 hryvnias for second place, and 100,000 hryvnias for third place. Another 50,000 hryvnia will be a special prize from the founder of the competition.
D. Lukyanenko expressed confidence that the competition could become a platform for truly innovative ideas: «Students will determine not only the content of the security agreement, but also the key points that may require changes in international law. We expect unconventional solutions where the world's elite has yet to find a way out».
L. Kozhura emphasized that the competition goes beyond the usual competition: «We are launching a platform for young people who are not only studying law but are already ready to shape its future».
