Four Committees have been established within the UNBA

Four new permanent collegial advisory bodies – industry Committees – have begun work at the Ukrainian National Bar Association.

By separate orders of the President of the UNBA, BCU Lidiya Izovitova, the following were created:

• Committee on the protection of victims of armed aggression against Ukraine, compensation mechanisms and European integration legal support for recovery (chairman – Andriy Yermak);
• Committee on legal support and protection of rights in the field of mental health (chairman – Hanna Ishchenko);
• Committee on oil, gas and subsurface use (chairman — Serhiy Antonenko);
• Committee on mediation (chairman — Luiza Romanadze).

It should be noted that the UNBA Committees are formed and operate with the aim of promoting the development and strengthening of the role of advocacy in Ukraine, ensuring the rights of advocates and creating the necessary conditions for the provision of professional legal assistance by advocates, to ensure the rule of law, sustainable socio-economic development of Ukraine, promote the improvement and involvement of advocates in the process of improving the state's legal system and bringing it closer to international standards, ensure and protect human rights and freedoms, promote the implementation of international law norms into the national legislation of Ukraine, introduce best international practices and innovations in the legal profession, establishing fruitful cooperation and maintaining stable relations with bar associations of foreign countries and international organizations, providing assistance in the professional development of young advocates.

The activities of Committee members, including their leaders, are carried out on a voluntary basis.

The quantitative composition, special (additional) tasks, rights, and obligations of a particular Committee are established by order of the President of the UNBA, BCU.

To fulfill their tasks, the committees interact with the Bar Council of Ukraine, state authorities and local self-government bodies whose activities are related to the committees' areas of responsibility, judicial and law enforcement agencies, Committees and the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, international organizations and their representative offices in Ukraine, human rights organizations, public organizations, associations, legal entities under private and public law, as well as individuals.
