The UNBA Board of Trustees supported a colleague, whose son died in the war

Six advocates who found themselves in difficult circumstances due to the war will receive financial assistance. The decision was made at a meeting of the UNBA Board of Trustees on March 4.

First, the UNBA Board of Trustees considered an application from a colleague from Rivne, whose son was killed while performing combat duties to defend the state. It was decided to provide the mother of the deceased with 50,000 hryvnias in financial assistance.

Financial support was also provided to an advocate from Mariupol, a woman who suffered shrapnel wounds as a result of enemy shelling, and to an advocate from Kharkiv, whose house was significantly damaged by a ballistic missile strike.

Three more advocates will receive financial assistance for medical treatment. They belong to the category of persons who are provided with charitable support in case of need for constant intake of essential medicines and lack of own funds to purchase them.

Two applications from advocates were rejected by the UNBA Board of Trustees because they did not meet any of the approved criteria. A total of eight appeals were considered at the meeting.

It should be noted that the UNBA Board of Trustees was established at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine to distribute charitable assistance to advocates affected by the war and their families. At its meetings, each application is carefully considered in an effort to help as much as possible, because behind each application there is human pain and loss.

Over the past four years, the UNBA Board of Trustees has become an example of how the legal community supports its colleagues, as well as a consolidated position of the world in helping Ukrainian advocates.
