The UNBA and the Embassy discussed ways to support Ukrainians in Poland

For thousands of Ukrainians in Poland, legal issues have long been a part of daily life — ranging from documents and consular services to employment, family matters, and access to advocacy. That is why the interaction between diplomats and advocacy goes beyond mere protocol.

On March 20, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland between the head of the consular section Danylo Zapevalov and representatives of the Ukrainian National Bar Association — the chairman of the UNBA Committee on legal practice Bogdan Kushnir and his deputy Volodymyr Martynenko.

During the meeting, the parties discussed support for Ukrainian advocates currently in Poland, as well as possible approaches to simplifying access to the profession. Special attention was given to joint initiatives aimed at raising legal awareness among Ukrainian citizens who currently reside or are temporarily staying in the Republic of Poland.

This involves both professional communication between institutions and practical matters that Ukrainians abroad face on a daily basis. For many citizens, timely clarification of basic legal issues can be crucial — from contacting a consular office and processing documents to understanding their rights in labor, family, administrative and other matters.

In addition, the parties discussed potential cooperation involving association representatives in providing legal assistance to Ukrainian citizens residing in Poland. At this stage, the focus is on identifying areas for such collaboration and finding a format that would combine the institutional support of the diplomatic mission with the professional expertise of advocacy.

«It is important to us that a Ukrainian advocate residing in Poland does not face professional and organizational challenges alone. It is equally important that Ukrainian citizens have clear access to legal information and can obtain professional advice in a timely manner. That is why we are interested in practical cooperation with the consular office. This could include joint educational events. We will also develop possible mechanisms for advisory support», - noted B. Kushnir.
