Students at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University are set to gain more opportunities for internships, work placements, dual education, and joint research projects through cooperation with advocacy.

This is the aim of a memorandum of cooperation signed by the Ukrainian National Bar Association, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Bar Association and Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University. The document was signed by the President of the UNBA and the BCU Lidiya Izovitova, the acting chairman of the BCU Maksym Semenov and the university’s rector Viktor Hreshta. The memorandum was signed with the assistance of the Center for advocacy and legal research at the UNBA.

The document outlines cooperation in the fields of higher education and science, improving the quality of educational programs, research, methodological, and teaching work, as well as the professional training of higher education students. Among the memorandum’s goals, the promotion of research on the history of Ukrainian advocacy and the preservation of its documentary heritage are specifically noted.

The practical scope of the cooperation involves working on scientific and educational initiatives. The parties agreed to implement joint research projects, establish research laboratories, temporary research groups, and commissions, hold conferences, seminars, and other scientific events, as well as participate in international scientific and educational programs.

The cooperation covers dual education, internships, practical training, and employment. The memorandum provides for the use of the parties’ resources to train students in the workplace, create conditions for practical training, and facilitate internships and employment for graduates.

The parties also agreed to participate in joint programs, exchange students and faculty, develop new courses and teaching technologies, share instructional materials, and review educational programs.

«This is about supporting legal education and academic initiatives in the frontline region. In Zaporizhzhia, we see several specific areas of cooperation: supporting the Zaporizhzhia Regional Bar Association’s Museum, developing a scientific and practical laboratory for legal practice, the University’s Legal Clinic, and educational initiatives for youth, – noted Iryna Vasylyk, Head of the Center for advocacy and legal research at the UNBA and Vice Rector of the Higher School of Advocacy. – This is important both for fostering a culture of law and for promoting the legal profession among schoolchildren and students».
