In Dnipro efforts are being made to strengthen the link between legal education and the practice of law |

Students at the University of Customs and Finance will have more opportunities for practical training with the participation of local advocates, while the legal community will gain an additional platform to influence the content of legal education. This is the aim of a memorandum of cooperation signed by the Ukrainian National Bar Association, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Bar Council and the University of Customs and Finance. The document provides for joint work in the field of scientific and educational activities, the exchange of information and experience, as well as the implementation of joint events, projects, and programs. Among the main areas of focus are the creation and implementation of educational and educational-scientific programs that meet the needs of legal practice, the legal system, and modern legal science. The UNBA and the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Bar Association have committed to facilitating the participation of advocates in the educational process — specifically through teaching specialized courses, conducting lectures, seminars, master classes, and roundtables for students. The memorandum includes feedback between practice and education. The university is to adjust curricula and thesis topics in accordance with the needs of the region’s advocates, as well as develop internship programs to be conducted at the Bar Association of the region. Additionally, the parties agreed to collaborate on the preparation of collective scholarly monographs, scientific and practical works, collections of articles, and other professional publications. Another area of cooperation is the development of topics related to advocacy within the educational process. This involves the development and implementation of elective courses on the history of the formation and development of the advocacy profession, as well as the opening of specialized classrooms and lecture halls. «The Dnipropetrovsk Advocacy Museum is already operating at the Educational and scientific institute of law and international legal relations and master classes led by practicing advocates are held for students in the region. The next step should be to expand this work and strengthen the presence of advocacy in the university’s educational environment, with plans to open a Center for Advocacy in the near future», - noted Iryna Vasylyk, head of the Center for research on advocacy and law at the UNBA and vice rector of the Higher School of Advocacy. |
