Families of servicemembers who are missing in action, held captive, or have died while defending Ukraine often have to navigate multiple legal proceedings simultaneously. To do so, it is important to understand which authorities to contact, what documents to gather, and what social protections are provided by law. The Committee of the Ukrainian National Bar Association on the protection of victims of armed aggression against Ukraine, compensation mechanisms and European integration legal support for recovery has prepared the second edition of Guidelines for families of missing, captured and deceased servicemen. The publication has a practical format and is structured as a set of step-by-step guides for specific situations: In addition to legal explanations, the publication contains tools for directly contacting the relevant authorities. The text includes QR codes and active links to official websites, online portals, online application forms, downloadable documents, and other services that may be needed by families of missing, captured, and deceased servicemen.
All summaries, guides, and checklists are available on the association’s website in the section on instructional materials. |
