Thanks to the forehand modernization of the information infrastructure, the Ukrainian National Bar Association (hereinafter – the UNBA) was ready for online formats of quarantine activities. "During this year, which was almost all quarantined, we managed on our own and did not betray the mission of our profession. People were not left defenseless. We have a powerful institution that can overcome such unusual crises. We pass it with dignity, no matter how hard it was for us,” said Lidia Izovitova, Head of the UNBA, the Bar Council of Ukraine (hereinafter – the BCU), opening the sitting of the BCU. Summing up the activities of the UNBA in 2020, Lydia Izovitova stressed that the attorneys` community was able to move freely to the new working conditions dictated by the coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to the forehand modernization of the information infrastructure, namely the transition to the Teams system, the UNBA was ready for online formats of quarantine activities. “Similarly, regional qualification and disciplinary commissions of the Bar switched to new distance forms of training to guarantee the opportunity for attorneys to improve their skills even during the quarantine. The choice was great and there was no shortage of opportunities to score the required number of points. Especially, our Higher School of Advocacy has worked clearly," said Lidia Izovitova. She stressed that all bar self-government bodies overcame this crisis and adapted to the conditions of mixed or remote work. In particular, during 2020 121 decisions of the BCU were made. Meetings were held systematically, in the format of video conference. "In this aspect, the UNBA has fully complied with the requirements of the relevant law," said Lidia Izovitova. |
