The regular meeting of the Bar Council of Ukraine begins (agenda item)

On December 15 and 16, the Bar Council of Ukraine is holding its regular meeting. During the two days of the meeting, representatives of the bar self-government plan to summarize the results of the outgoing year and consider a number of issues related to the organization of the legal profession.

This time the event is being held offline in Uzhhorod.

Among the issues on the agenda:

• assessment of the Draft Law No. 10042 of 13.09.2023 «On the Organizational and Legal Framework for the Construction and Functioning of the Military Justice of Ukraine»;
• amending the Regulation on the Procedure for Receiving and Reviewing Complaints Regarding Misconduct of an Attorney that May Result in Disciplinary Liability;
• informing advocates on the submission of reports in the field of combating money laundering on the basis of the order of the Ministry of Justice dated 17.06.2022 No. 2522/5;
• approving a new version of the Regulation on the Commission for Assessment of the Quality, Completeness and Timeliness of Free Legal Aid Provision;
• implementation of a model project on the provision of free legal aid in Khmelnytskyi region;
• studying the need to supplement the list of subjects of the right to free secondary legal aid (amendments to the Law on FLA);
• the procedure for issuing a warrant certifying the authority of an attorney to provide legal aid;
• taxation of the practice of law.

The advocates also plan to consider a number of letters for clarification on certain issues, in particular, regarding:

• participation in the bar association of a member who has suspended the right to practice law;
• attorneys' inquiries;
• submission of declarations by members of the qualification and disciplinary commissions of the Bar in accordance with the NAPC's explanation;
• reforming the procedure for passing the qualification exam to obtain the right to practice law.
