Ukrainians in the UK have been given advice on visa renewal in 2025 |
|
![]() ![]() Visas for Ukrainian immigrants in the UK should be extended beyond February 2025. It is until then that the temporary protection program for Ukrainians will continue. This information was provided by Oleksandr Chernykh, the representative of the UNBA in Scotland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (Edinburgh) during the webinar «What awaits Ukrainians in the UK: Visa Prospects». He made his conclusion based on the debate on visa extensions for Ukrainians who have been granted protection in the UK, which took place on February 6, 2024 in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. «There is no doubt that British MPs support us. Some Ukrainian chat rooms have spread information that Labor will come and cancel all our visas. On the contrary, representatives of all parties have spoken in favor of extending visas and supporting Ukrainians as long as it is necessary», - assured O. Chernykh, referring to the speech of Tom Pergslov, Minister of Migration and the State Border. During the webinar, English attorney Lilia Scott highlighted the issues of visa extensions under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, transition from these visas to other visas, language and income requirements in case of transition to a Skilled Worker or Innovator Visa. In addition, the speakers explored the preparation of documents and the grounds for obtaining «settled status» - a permanent residence permit. «There are purely practical issues, so that all Ukrainians have, first of all, access to their accounts through which they applied for a visa, so that they have access to the phones that are registered in the database. Check your emails, go to your page through which you applied. If you have changed your passport documents, you should also check and change them so that you have an up-to-date passport and no questions will arise later», advised O. Chernykh. |
