Two lawyers died in Sumy region at once: UNBA Board of Trustees supported their families

The UNBA Board of Trustees supported the families of two killed lawyers, wounded colleagues and lawyers who lost their homes because of the war.

The relevant decisions were made at a regular meeting on November 22, 2024.

Two lawyers in Sumy region were killed by enemy attacks. One of them volunteered to the front from the first days of the war, served in the hottest spots, and was killed by a missile attack. Another colleague sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of massive shelling of the city, and is survived by her 7-year-old son and husband. The UNBA Board of Trustees allocated UAH 50 thousand to their families.

Three more advocates received funds for treatment. The advocate from Lutsk took part in the hostilities in the Donetsk sector, received concussion and injuries that require long-term treatment. A lawyer from Kherson was injured as a result of an enemy munition drop and has an open fracture of both shin bones. A lawyer from Odesa has been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2022, and near Bakhmut he received a complex injury to his arm and collarbone, and is undergoing long-term rehabilitation.

The UNBA Board of Trustees also decided to provide assistance to the lawyer from Odesa region. As a result of a missile strike, her house was damaged - the roof was completely destroyed, windows were smashed, and the ceiling in her room fell. The woman sustained injuries of varying severity, including hearing loss.

In addition, financial assistance will be sent to a colleague from Mykolaiv. The man has a disability of group II, for health reasons he cannot practice law, as he wrote a statement to the UNBA. He belongs to the category of older attorneys who, due to the war, found themselves in difficult life circumstances and have no means of subsistence.
