UNBA NextGen has a new Chairman

Igor Andreev has been appointed as the Chairman of the Youth Committee of the Ukrainian National Bar Association - UNBA NextGen, which deals with the development of the Ukrainian Bar in terms of generational continuity and promotion of the career growth of young lawyers.

The relevant order was signed by Lidiya Izovitova, the President of the UNBA, BCU on January 9.

I. Andreev received his law degree from the National University «Odesa Law Academy». He received a certificate of the right to practice law in 2020.

Since 2021, he has represented UNBA NextGen in Odesa region, moved to Kyiv in 2022, and in 2024 was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Youth Committee.

«During my work, I have met many young, ambitious lawyers and attorneys who lacked an understanding of how to realize their potential, - said I. Andreev. - And the potential of all those who stayed in Ukraine and continue to work, do good, and protect desperate people is unlimited!».

He expressed his belief that now we need to focus on helping young people who have chosen law, to help them find and realize themselves. «We need to show them from our own experience that everything is possible! Teaching, supporting, motivating, and raising the level is our task. The generation of young attorneys must, through their work, consolidate the public's awareness of the importance of the Bar, and raise the prestige and authority of the Bar with their professionalism. This is where we will focus our efforts», - the new Chairman of the Youth Committee of the UNBA promised.

Since its formation in 2018, the Committee has formed regional branches in 23 regions, identified the main areas of activity and assigned those responsible for each of them. This made it possible to maintain an ongoing dialogue with young people and students, to exchange experience with experienced colleagues and to involve young attorneys in the bar self-government. Thanks to the Committee's activities, the UNBA has strengthened the position of the Ukrainian Bar in the international arena. Sergiy Barbashyn, who has been heading the committee since 2020, became the first Ukrainian to join the board of the European Young Bar Association (EYBA) and chair it. «I am proud of the work of NextGen and our achievements. I am immensely grateful to the UNBA leadership for their trust, and to my colleagues for their contribution to the development. NextGen is our joint achievement. I wish success to the successors in the development of this unique project», - the lawyer said.
