The UNBA will appeal to the SSU in respect of attempt to detain advocate Montyan on the border
The Ukrainian National Bar Association will appeal to the Security Service of Ukraine about the situation with an attempt to restrict the travel from Ukraine of advocate Tetyana Montyan.
In particular, the UNBA was alarmed by the fact that the advocate had been notified of the presence of her name in some separate list compiled by the SSU and forwarded to the employees of the State Border Service. The UNBA will request to detail the status of this document, grounds on which it was made and reasons for including advocate Montyan into this list, in particular, whether the inclusion was caused by the fact that Mrs Montyan was a defender of journalist Ruslan Kotsaba and obtained recognition by the court of his innocence.
The UNBA emphasizes that identification of the advocate with the client and pressure on the advocate is prohibited by law. Yet, it turns into a daily practice of law enforcement bodies during their investigation of high-profile cases.Popular news
