The Committee on Protection of Advocates’ Professional Rights is going to get a deal with the ICJ concerning systematic cooperation

On 10 August 2018 there was held a regular meeting of the Committee on Protection of Advocates’ Professional Rights and Guarantees to practice law.

The discussion centered on new cases of beatings of advocates and the results of the press conference conducted and organized by the Committee on Protection of Advocates’ Professional Rights and Guarantees to practice law in connection with such attacks on advocates. It was decided to appeal to all international organizations with a request to intervene in the situation with systematic violation by the authorities of advocates' guarantees to practice law.

Members of the Committee have approved a detailed algorithm of appeal to the Committee on Protection of Advocates’ Professional Rights and Guarantees to practice law and to the organization of the International Commission of Jurists to conduct investigations of violations of professional rights of advocates by the authorities.

There was approved a jointly developed by the International Committee and of the Committee on Protection of Advocates’ Professional Rights and Guarantees to practice law at UNBA a draft Memorandum of cooperation between the UNBA and the ICJ

Also during the meeting, there were made changes to the Regulations on the Committee on Protection of Advocates’ Professional Rights and Guarantees to practice law and there was a decision to submit the text of the Regulations for approval to the Bar Council of Ukraine.

The Committee's next meeting is scheduled for 20 September 2018 at 15 o'clock.
