NextGen Committee for young advocates of the Odessa region is launching
On March 15, 2019 in Odessa there was held a press-conference on the launch of the NextGen Youth Committee for young lawyers in the region.
The event was attended by the Head of the Odessa Region Bar Council Josef Bronz, member of the board of the UNBA NextGen Committee Yurii Grygorenko, coordinator of the new committee Volodymyr Matsko and the representative of the committee Spartak Chernushych, as well as advocate Svitlana Nemertsalova.
Josef Bronz, the Head of the Odessa Region Bar Council, told that the problem of raising the level of professionalism of young advocates is quite relevant today: "It is encouraging that the Ukrainian National Bar Association drew attention to such an important area of work as raising the professional level of young advocates. I believe that Youth Committee has been created to benefit the improvement of the professional skills of young professionals. Because the knowledge that our young people receive is in many ways inferior to the level that an advocate needs to achieve in order to properly perform his duties... A school does not give enough today," - stated the head of the regional bar council.
Speaking on the tasks of the youth committee, Yurii Grygorenko, a member of the board of the UNBA NextGen Youth Committee, told about the activity of the committee in Kiev and the benefits that young colleagues can get from participating in events organized by young people for young people.
"NextGen is the latest, most up-to-date and most advanced of the knowledge and experience necessary for the younger generation of advocates. This is, if you wish, a refined list of skills that a young advocates needs to become successful. In addition, the task is to involve as many young advocates as possible in the work of the bar self-government bodies, as it directly affects their activities and the future of the whole profession," - said Yurii Grygorenko.
The activities of the NextGen Youth Committee in Odesa Region will be aimed at raising the skills of young advocates, creating an intellectual professional environment and platforms for informal communication of young professionals, said Coordinator of the NextGen Committee in Odesa Region Volodymyr Matsko.
"Our activities will be aimed at exchanging experience, in various formats - from informal business breakfasts to classical advanced training," - he added. Also, according to him, an important area of activity will be the study of document circulation, as well as construction of a management structure.
Representative of NextGen Committee in the Odessa Region Spartak Chernushych said that the committee intends to help young advocates to open their own legal business: "We plan to hold seminars, trainings on which would like to deal with such issues as choosing the best form of advocacy, the optimal form of taxation, management, self-organization, accounting working time-management, as well as delegation of authority. It is also important to build a business strategy for a young advocate, work with his own brand, the basics of PR and media, as well as work with clients," - he explained.
As noted by advocate Svetlana Nemertsalova, the work of the committee may be aimed at creating an intellectual environment, similar to young scientists. "Only being within a successful professional environment of like-minded people who have similar ideas, goals and problems, you can really grow up and become a professional," - said the advocate.
The coordinators of the committee reported that the activities will include the study of related fields of knowledge - oratory, business planning, media work, etc.
We recall that in June 2018 UNBA created the NextGen Youth Committee. The committee is aimed at young advocates, their professional needs, integration into professional community and dialogue with more experienced colleagues.
