Members of the Committee on protection of advocates’ social rights took part in trainings organized with the support of ICJ
On September 27-28th International Court of Justice (ICJ) together with the Bar Association of Tajikistan Republic held a training on a protection of advocates’ rights and guarantees of advocacy.
Special attention was dedicated to the organization, functioning and role of the Panel itself and the Committee on protection of advocates’ rights in protecting professional rights. Members of the Committee on protection of advocates’ rights in UNBA Leonid Skokin and Yevhen Miroshnikov served as trainers and shared best practices and recommendations on overcoming challenges, which occur in the work of bar self-government bodies in this area of activity.
About thirty lawyers from all the regions of Tajikistan took part in this training. For two days advocates were discussing effective usage of international mechanisms, international law and standards, relevant to the protection of advocates’ rights.

BCU: The HCJ’s decisions undermine the constitutional guarantees of the independence of the advocacy profession
The Bar Council of Ukraine has concluded that, in its recent decisions, the High Council of Justice has, without legal grounds, called into question the right of bar self-governing bodies to protect the guarantees of legal practice and has, in effect, attempted to grant one of its members — who retains the status of an advocate — special immunity from the Rules of professional conduct and disciplinary responsibility.
