The UNBA Board of Trustees provided financial aid to the families of four attorneys who were killed in the combat zone
On March 3, 2023, the UNBA Board of Trustees held a regular meeting on the distribution of charitable assistance provided by international organizations to the UNBA, at which 13 applications from advocates in need of financial aid were considered.
Unfortunately, the Bar continues to suffer heavy losses due to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Four attorneys from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Chernivtsi regions were killed in the combat zone. The UNBA Board of Trustees provided financial assistance to their families in the amount of UAH 100 thousand.
The UNBA Board of Trustees also decided to support an attorney who has been undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the combat zone for a long time. Last summer, he was seriously injured near the Donetsk airport and lost his leg. He will receive financial assistance in the amount of 50 thousand hryvnias.
The rest of the applications are from advocates who have partially or entirely lost their homes. These advocates from Kyiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions will receive funds to cover their basic living needs.
It should be reminded that the UNBA Board of Trustees was established on March 3, 2022 by order of the UNBA President Lidiya Izovitova. During the year, almost 500 appeals of attorneys were considered. Reports on international charitable assistance during martial law in Ukrainian and English are published on the UNBA's official website.
