The National Bar Association of Ukraine is concerned about information regarding violations of the professional rights of advocates and guarantees of advocacy, which was disseminated on June 16 by the UPO «Ukrainian Bar Association». This issue will be discussed at a meeting of the Bar Council of Ukraine.

A public statement asserts that over the past two months, the public organization has recorded violations such as: notification of suspicion to advocates in connection with the provision of legal assistance; wiretapping in the office of a law firm; detention of an advocate in a case where he was a defense counsel; searches without a warrant from an investigating judge and without the participation of a representative of the bar association; seizure of information carriers containing attorney-client privilege.

The Ukrainian National Bar Association appealed to Mykola Stetsenko, the president of the UBA, requesting detailed information about the names of the advocates, the dates and circumstances of the incidents, the law enforcement agencies that carried out the relevant actions, etc.

Since the UNBA and its working bodies constantly monitor violations and measures to protect the rights of lawyers, the information disseminated by the UBA about violations (if confirmed by specific facts) will require immediate response. It will be considered by the Bar Council of Ukraine for further measures to protect lawyers.

The reform of medical-social assessment and military medical commissions has changed procedures but has not resolved practical issues. People face situations where documents are not issued, decisions are based on technicalities, assessments are delayed, and they struggle to demonstrate their actual health status in specific life situations.

Following a divorce, joint custody can serve as a mechanism for ensuring equal parental rights. However, this model requires clear criteria and cannot be applied automatically without taking into account the child’s age, the level of conflict between the parents, the risk of violence, and the feasibility of enforcing the future decision.
