Advocates learned self-defense from the world champion in combat sambo (photo)
On September 27, at the Hermes sports club in Kyiv, advocates studied basic combat sambo techniques, practicing strikes and throws, crisis management skills, and self-defense in case of attack.
The event, organized by the UNBA Committees on business and investor protection and on sports law and physical culture, was led by world champion in freestyle wrestling and combat sambo, chairman of the Combat Sambo Federation of Ukraine and Europe, master of sports Elkhan Veliev.
Advocates from different regions of Ukraine took part in the training, ranging from young professionals to experienced practitioners who strive to maintain physical fitness and develop personal safety skills.
The organizers aimed to increase the level of personal safety of advocates, show ways to develop physical endurance and strength, simulate actions in extreme and stressful situations, and strengthen corporate spirit and mutual support in the advocate community.
The training was conducted at a dynamic pace with an emphasis on practice, which allowed each participant to feel their own capabilities, improve their physical fitness, and increase their confidence in their actions in difficult circumstances. The combination of the legal profession and martial arts as a tool not only for physical development but also for increasing the overall level of safety for lawyers was of great interest.
«Today, an advocate is not only a legal expert, but also a person who must be prepared for a wide variety of challenges, - noted E. Veliev. - Therefore, physical endurance, self-control, and the ability to react quickly are all part of professional resilience».
The Ukrainian National Bar Association will continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the legal environment, increasing the personal safety of advocates, their physical training, and developing a culture of advocacy through sports, interaction, and team support.
