Ukraine is launching the international educational project Train4EU, aimed at preparing the legal community for the process of European integration. The initiative is being implemented with the support of the Swedish Institute. Örebro University (Sweden) serves as the key academic partner.

The Ukrainian National Bar Association is an official partner of the project, according to the UNBA Committee on commercial law and procedure.

The National University «Odessa Law Academy», the National School of Judges of Ukraine, the Notary Chamber of Ukraine and the Training Center for Prosecutors of Ukraine have also joined the initiative.

The project involves training advocates, judges, prosecutors, and notaries in European Union law and the practice of the Court of Justice of the European Union. A key feature of the initiative is the use of the «train-the-trainer» model, which will allow the knowledge gained to be scaled up and disseminated among thousands of Ukrainian legal professionals.

The project is led by Yuriy Orzih, a lecturer at Örebro University and associate professor at the Odessa Law Academy. The UNBA’s representative in the project is Hanna Osetynska, chairman of the Committee on commercial law and procedure.

The implementation of Train4EU will take place in several stages: The project aims to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions), SDG 4 (quality education), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals).

  • by August 2026: preparation of the program and training materials;
  • September–November 2026: first phase of participant training;
  • April–May 2027: second phase, during which participants will conduct training sessions independently;
  • June–December 2027 – evaluation and planning for the project’s future replication.
