The President of the UNBA, BCU established a working group on the legal regulation of artificial intelligence and recommendations for legislation
The President of the UNBA, BCU Lidiya Izovitova established a Working Group on the legal regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of recommendations for national legislation in this area. The Working Group is headed by the Vice President of UNBA, BCU Valentin Gvozdiy.
The establishment of the Working Group is driven by the active development and use of artificial intelligence systems in Ukraine and around the world. The creation of foundational legislation in this area will ensure transparency and proper legal regulation of artificial intelligence, provide protection against potential cyberattacks and other threats, and prevent its misuse.
However, the Working Group’s most important task in drafting legislative proposals is to ensure adequate protection of human rights during the development, implementation and use of artificial intelligence systems.
The Working Group will analyze the most important legal issues related to the development and use of artificial intelligence. Among the Working Group’s main tasks are ensuring access to data used for training and operating artificial intelligence systems; protecting copyrights and data ownership rights related to the creation of artificial intelligence systems; establishing rules to ensure the security of artificial intelligence systems to protect against potential cyberattacks and other threats; and defining the ethical principles and rules that developers of artificial intelligence systems must follow. The Working Group will also work to define the limits of artificial intelligence system use across various sectors, protect personal data collected by artificial intelligence systems, establish rules for its storage and use and promote the development of skills and education in the field of artificial intelligence.
The establishment of the Working Group on the Legal Regulation of Artificial Intelligence and the development of recommendations for legislation is an important step toward ensuring proper legal regulation of the development and use of artificial intelligence in Ukraine. The Working Group will promote the development of this field and help ensure the proper protection of human rights when using artificial intelligence systems.
