Two centers for the study of the history of the Bar have been opened in the Ternopil region
In May, at the initiative of the Head of the Center for Advocacy and Law Research Iryna Vasylyk and with the assistance of the Ukrainian National Bar Association (hereinafter – the UNBA), the Ternopil Region Bar Council, two educational and research centers for studying the history of advocacy were opened in Ternopil Region.
In Ternopil the Studio of the History of the Bar of Ternopil Region started working on the basis of the Faculty of Law of the Western Ukrainian National University. The Ukrainian National Bar Association funded the production of visual material prepared by the Center for the Study of Advocacy and Law, and the Ternopil Region Bar Association took care of the technical equipment of the Studio. Visual materials on all-Ukrainian topics were prepared for the Ternopil Bar History Studio: “Monastic and Episcopal Lawyers (sorcerers) of the 17th - 18th centuries”, “The Hetmanate Bar”, “State Lawyers: Presidents and Prime Ministers of Ukraine”, and history of the local Bar was covered: "Ternopil Bar at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries", "Famous attorneys of Ternopil in the first half of the XX century", there also are stands on prominent attorneys - the first Ukrainian mayor of Ternopil Volodymyr Luchakovsky and attorney Stanislav Dnistryansky.
Iryna Vasylyk, Head of the Center for Advocacy and Law Research, donated books on the history of the Bar to the faculty library, which will ensure the implementation of the Center's scientific achievements in the educational process.
“The Studio of the History of the Bar of Ternopil Region is a professional platform for interaction between attorneys and students, a creative space for scientific events and professional master classes. The UNBA, the Center for Advocacy and Law Research and the management of the faculty plan to open an "Office of Attorney" at the Faculty of Law, where students could learn the basics and secrets of advocacy mastery,” - said Iryna Vasylyk.
On May 25, in the city of Chortkiv, Ternopil region, the museum room of the Bar of Chortkiv Region was solemnly opened on the basis of Chortkiv Educational and Scientific Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business of the Western Ukrainian National University.
"The uniqueness of the event was evidenced by the participation in the event of famous lawyers of Chortkiv and highly respected representatives of the clergy of various denominations. It is significant that the museum room, as well as the memorial plaque to the leading attorney of the region Antin Gorbachevsky were consecrated by Bishop Buchach of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church Dmytro Hryhorak and the rector of the oldest Orthodox church in Chortkiv - the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Fr. Myron Karach. In his speech, Bishop Dmytro Hryhorak noted that it is our human duty to honor the heroes and attorneys who proclaimed and built the Ukrainian state in the past and now, " - Iryna Vasylyk said.
Representatives of the Advocacy and Legal Community of Chortkiv and the teaching staff of the Chortkiv Educational and Scientific Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business of West Ukrainian National University (hereinafter – WUNU) took part in the opening ceremony of the museum room. Among the guests of the holiday were: director of the Chortkiv local center for free secondary legal aid Gambal M.I., chief state executor of the Chortkiv department of internal affairs Kravchuk G.V., Doctor of Economics, director of the Chortkiv professional college of economics and enterprise, Zhovkovskaya T.T., attorneys: Sadovsky M.D., Vitkovsky V.S., Volynets S.A., Kryva I.I., Guk V.S., Kalinnikova M.O., Dyadyk Y.B.
Nadiya Kulchytska, Director of the Chortkiv Educational and Scientific Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business of WUNU, stressed in her welcoming speech the importance of this event for the intellectual prosperity of the region, as scientists, attorneys, clergy and the public unite to study history and preserve historical memory. Nadiya Kulchytska expressed her gratitude to all those involved in the creation of the museum room of the Bar of Chortkiv Region.
Mykola Kaminskyi, Chairman of the Chortkiv Region Bar Council, addressed the audience with welcoming words.
Iryna Vasylyk, Head of the Center for Advocacy and Law Research, spoke about the role of attorneys in declaring Ukraine's independence and preserving the attributes of statehood during the 20th century. She also presented training stands for the museum room and donated to the library of the Institute of the UNBA`s publications on the history of advocacy. The visual material, prepared with the financial support of the Ukrainian National Bar Association, included, in addition to all-Ukrainian thematic stands, also local topics, in particular, "Outstanding Ukrainian lawyers of the Chortkiv region of the first half of XX century", " Ternopil Bar at the turn of XIX - XX centuries", " Antin Yakovlevich Gorbachevsky: attorney, public and political figure","Vladimir Elektorovich: attorney and fighter for the independence of Ukraine ". In the museum room you can get acquainted not only with educational stands, but also with the exhibition of books "The role of attorneys in Ukrainian statehood development".
"The Chortkiv Educational and Scientific Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business is not only a center for preparing our future professionals, but also a place of historical memory of the Ukrainian Bar. During the Austro-Hungarian era, this building housed the district court. Here, in 1893, founding his own law office, worked a prominent lawyer Antin Gorbachevsky. We would like to note with the highest respect the initiative of the local community of Chortkiv and some patrons to honor the prominent attorney Antin Gorbachevsky by installling a memorial plaque in his honor on the wall of the former building of the District Court. I express my sincere gratitude to the UNBA for financial support in making the visual material, the Ternopil Regional Bar Council for financial contribution to the technical equipment of the museum room, attorneys of Chortkiv for indifference to the history of advocacy of their region, patrons for making a memorial plaque in honor of A. Gorbachevsky, the director of the College Tetyana Zhovkovskaya, the director of the Chortkiv Second Secondary School Ruslan Kulchytsky for a meaningful report on Antin Gorbachevsky, the state executor Halyna Kravchuk for help and, especially the director of the Chortkiv Educational and Scientific Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Nadiya Kulchytska for organizing this holiday! The opening of two centers for the study of the history of advocacy is a significant event for Ternopil. We hope for the active work of the Studio of the History of Advocacy of Ternopil Region and the Museum Room of Advocacy of Chortkiv Region for the benefit of development and establishment of the status and prestige of Ukrainian advocacy in the state and society, " – the Head of the Center for Advocacy and Law Research under the UNBA emphasized.
