UNBA and the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “JurFem” signed a memorandum of cooperation
UNBA and the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “JurFem” have agreed to cooperate.
Ukrainian National Bar Association and the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “JurFem”, with the assistance of the Committee on Gender Policy, the Committee on Legal Education, the Committee on Family Law, agreed to cooperate by signing a memorandum on January 22 for the purpose of cooperation and exchange of information, the current challenges in the field of human rights protection, in particular women's rights, and the development and implementation of projects to address them, as well as research into the protection of women's rights and the pursuit of educational and research activities for the formation of a gender sensitive legal community based on the best European and international practices.
The parties agreed in particular on:
Developing joint proposals and recommendations for draft laws and other regulations, state programs and action plans aimed at protecting women's rights and ensuring gender equality;
Conducting consultations with the goal of developing a coherent position on addressing the most pressing issues in the field of gender equality, promoting the development of citizens' justice and shaping a legal culture that takes gender equality into account;
Study and analysis of the real status and tendencies of the development of gender equality in Ukraine and in the world, as well as the development of recommendations on this basis to the authorities, public associations, etc.
The Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “JurFem” is one of the first associations of women lawyers in Ukraine, which is a platform for the exchange of experience, development and support of women in the legal profession. One of the objectives of the Association is to improve the understanding among the legal community of national law and international law of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men for effective protection of women's rights and opportunities in all spheres of public and political life in Ukraine.
YurFem was officially registered in September 2017.
