Advocate's certificate is proposed to be included in Diia - draft law
Taking into account the experience of posting documents on the Unified State Web Portal of Electronic Services, the Verkhovna Rada proposes to enshrine the possibility of displaying the certificate of the right to practice law and the lawyer's certificate on the Diia portal.
People's Deputy Oleksandr Yurchenko submitted to the Verkhovna Rada the draft Law «On Amendments to Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine «On the Bar and Practice of Law" regarding the display of the certificate of the right to practice law and the certificate of the lawyer of Ukraine on the Diia portal» (reg. No. 11176 of 15.04.2024).
According to the document, part two of Article 12 of the Law is supplemented with a paragraph as follows:
«The certificate of the right to practice law and the certificate of the Ukrainian advocate shall be displayed electronically in the Unified State Web Portal of Electronic Services (hereinafter referred to as the Diia Portal), including in the mobile application of the Diia Portal. The technical procedure of information interaction is determined by the central executive body that ensures the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of digitalization, digital economy and digital innovations together with the subjects of information interaction».
The author of the initiative justifies his idea by the fact that the current law, although it provides for the issuance of a certificate of the right to practice law and a lawyer's certificate, does not provide for the possibility of displaying electronic copies of such documents. This should facilitate the access of Ukrainian advocates to the documents necessary for the practice of law.
