UNBA representative took part in the XXI International congress on criminalistics
On September 18–20 2025, the XXI International congress on criminalistics «Criminalistics and forensic expertology: science, education, practice», was held in Gdańsk (Republic of Poland).
The conference was organized by: University College of Professional Education, Pomeranian University, Polish Criminalistics Society, Lithuanian Criminalistics Society, European Solidarity Centre, and Forensic Science Centre of Lithuania.
The UNBA was represented at the XXI International congress by the chairman of the UNBA Committee on expert support, doctor of law Violleta Fedchyshina.
The guest of honor at the event was Brunon Golist, distinguished professor, habilitated doctor, honorary doctor of the University of Bialystok (2011) and Nasarawa State University in Keffi (Nigeria, 2023). The University of Keffi awarded him the title of honorary professor and established the Institute of European Studies in his honor. He is also a consultant at the Higher School of Professional Education in Wrocław.
Brunon Golist specializes in criminology, criminalistics, and victimology. He holds professorships at the Warsaw University of Applied Sciences and the University of Siedlce, and is an honorary professor at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. He is the initiator and founder of the Polish Society of Criminalistics, honorary president of the Polish Society of Mental Hygiene, and president of the Polish Society of Suicidology. He is a member of numerous international scientific Committees and has lectured as a visiting professor in various countries on topics related to suicidology, victimology, and criminology.
During the congress, current issues were discussed, including:
- Human rights in the context of crime prevention.
- Forensic science – the link between criminology and other supporting disciplines.
- Modern technologies and artificial intelligence in criminology and forensic science.
- The specifics of operational and investigative activities in the fight against transnational crime.
- Crime scene investigation and other investigative activities: problems, trends, and prospects.
- Complementarity of criminal procedure, criminalistics, and forensic medicine in combating crimes against life and health.
- Academic institutions, law enforcement agencies, the media, and non-governmental organizations and their role in crime prevention.
- The contribution of non-governmental organizations to the development of criminalistics.
- The role of politics, theory, and philosophy of criminalistics in the fight against crime.

UNBA warned about the risks of uncoordinated changes regarding incapacitated persons
The Ukrainian National Bar Association supports the idea of strengthening guarantees for persons declared legally incompetent by a court, but warns against adopting changes that are not coordinated with each other. To ensure real, rather than declarative, protection of rights, a systematic review of the provisions of the Civil Code and the Code of Civil Procedure is necessary.

Illegal mobilization of an advocate: UNBA achieved the opening of criminal proceeding
In the case of the beating of a Zakarpattia advocate, the cancellation of his deferment and his forced mobilization, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv ordered the Office of the Prosecutor General to immediately enter the information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and initiate criminal proceedings.
Guarantees of the practice of law
BCU will request that rooms for advocates to work in be created in all TCC
The Bar Council of Ukraine will appeal to the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense with a request to set up separate premises for advocates to work in all territorial recruitment and social support centers.

BCU condemned information attacks on advocacy
Bar Council of Ukraine strongly condemned the coordinated campaign to discredit advocacy, in particular the leadership of the Odessa region bar association. Protecting colleagues from manipulation and misrepresentation became a separate item on the agenda of the BCU meeting on October 17–18.
