The International Bar Association (IBA) has launched a call for applications from young lawyers for scholarships to attend the IBA 2024 Annual Conference in Mexico City.

Applications are accepted until April 30.

The scholarship entitles the applicant to participate in the event free of charge, covers accommodation costs and (partially) travel expenses.

The scholarship is open to young attorneys (up to 35 years old) or lawyers who have passed the relevant qualification procedures.

IBA membership is not a prerequisite for participation in the selection process. However, the scholarship winner will receive a two-year complimentary IBA membership and will be exempt from paying the registration fee for the next IBA Annual Conference or from paying the registration fee for participation in an IBA-organized industry conference.

The list of documents and detailed terms of the scholarship competition can be found on the IBA website.

If you have any questions, please contact the organizers at divisions@int-bar.org.

Exactly one year ago, on May 13, 2025, in Luxembourg, during the 134th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Convention for the Protection of the Profession of Lawyer was opened for signature. Today, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on legal policy held a working meeting to prepare for its ratification. Between these two dates lies a year, during which (on March 9) Ukraine became the 28th signatory state. We spoke about this new phase with the Vice President of the UNBA, BCU Valentin Gvozdiy, who was personally involved in the preparation of this international instrument.
