Volyn TCC to create places for lawyers to communicate with clients
A special place for meetings between lawyers and persons liable for military service will appear in the Volyn Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
This decision was made by the military command after a meeting with representatives of the National Bar Association of Ukraine, the Volyn TCC reported in a letter dated 19.09.2024 No. 1104. They believe that this practice has a positive experience of implementation.
As a reminder, this TCC recently stated that lawyers should not interfere in the processes of mobilization and military medical examination. This statement was commented on by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and the UNBA. In addition, the UNBA prepared and sent an appeal to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the protection of the rights of lawyers.
In response, the Volyn TCC stated that it did not intend to restrict the rights of advocates or deprive citizens of the constitutional right to legal defense in any way.
«We fully share your concern about possible misinterpretations of the text that could lead to the impression that the Volyn TCC and SS aims to discredit lawyers and the legal community as a whole, - the response reads. - We highly appreciate your role as defenders of the constitutional rights of Ukrainian citizens and in no way support any actions that could lead to the marginalization of the bar or restriction of its legal rights and obligations».
The TCC also assured that they are fully aware of the importance of legal aid for citizens and did not intend to raise doubts about its importance. «We understand that lawyers play an important role in protecting the rights of citizens, and the mobilization process, like any other state procedure, must be carried out in compliance with the legal rights and freedoms of citizens. For our part, we are ready to facilitate a constructive dialog with representatives of the bar and are confident that together we can avoid misunderstandings in the future», - the letter reads.
