The most important challenge in the history of modern Ukrainian advocacy-threat of cancelation of the advocates’ monopoly - Lidia Izovitova




The head of UNBA, BCU Lidia Izovitova and deputy head of UNBA, BCU Valentyn Gvozdii took part in international conference on the topic of “Strong and authoritative institute of advocacy as a matter of time”, which was held in Baku on October 4th, 2019.
The organizer of the event is the Panel of advocates of Azerbaijan Republic together with German Corporation of International Cooperation-GIZ.
To the conference were invited representatives of Presidential Administration if Azerbaijan, deputies of Milli Majlis (parliament), heads and judges of the Constitutional Court, Supreme and other courts, heads and representatives of prosecution bodies and justice, heads and members of Bar Councils of Azerbaijan and more than 20 other countries, representatives of the Council of Europe, United Nations and other international organizations, and also representatives of government agencies and non-governmental organizations, law community.
During the event, which was held in two sessions, speakers had touched upon the topics of the organization of advocate’s work, advocate’s ethics, problems of legislation and modern challenges to the advocacy. Also participants of the conference made a comparative analysis of requirements and conditions, which advocates have to follow, when protecting human rights, in different countries of the world.
Lidia Izovitova presented the report, in which she outlined the current situation of advocacy in Ukraine. The head of UNBA, BCU emphasized, that the most important challenge in the history of modern Ukrainian advocacy is the threat of cancelation of the lawyers’ monopoly, which is not acceptable in the european democratic country.
UNBA on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the advocacy of Azerbaijan gave a reward to the head of the Panel of advocates of Azerbaijan Republic Anara Bagirova.
During the stay in Baku, leaders of UNBA has also held bilateral meetings with the leaders of Bars from other countries.
